A BIT ABOUT TREATING THE MENOPAUSE:

A large proportion of my patients book to seek support for symptoms at the various stages of menopause and require help for part or all of the process.

Up to 25% of women won’t experience any particular menopausal symptoms; a similar percentage experience symptoms that completely disrupt their lives; the remaining 50% experience some or all of the usual symptoms to a lesser degree. If you need support and want to manage your symptoms naturally with herbs or are on hormone therapy and need extra support, then herbal medicine can help.

Symptoms can include hot flushes, night and day sweats, aching joints, heightened PMS-like symptoms, anxiety, hair thinning, over-whelm, headaches, migraines, palpitations or irregular heartbeat, cystitis, itchy or dry skin, constipation, digestive problems, dry eyes, mood swings, weight gain, depression, reduced libido, brain fog and lack of concentration, fatigue, sleep disturbances, vaginal dryness, and many others.

At all stages of the menopause, herbal medicine, when tailor-made to the individual, serves to strengthen and calm the nervous system, support the gut, assist liver and endocrine function, and help improve hormonal balance. This creates an increased sense of normality for the patient, leading to greater wellbeing. The therapeutic power of herbal medicine combined with learned clinical experience can really benefit women at all stages of menopause. Herbal remedies work well in their own right, but can be used alongside other disciplines too, including nutritional therapy, acupuncture and conventional hormonal therapy.

It’s important to remind ourselves, as women, that menopause is a completely natural process that potentially brings with it an empowering ‘third chapter’ in our lives. It can ultimately create the space for us to look inward and outwards to see ourselves and others clearly with our gained life experience and wisdom; and to be a bit more selective in how we expend our energies whilst looking after our innate selves to get the best from our lives. Herbal medicine can help at each stage of the journey.

“I sought out Anita Graham to address some destabilising peri-menopausal challenges of brain fog, subdued mood and digestive issues. I found it so easy to talk to Anita. Her paced manner, warmth and kindness made me feel at home whilst her profound level of expertise in knowing what would help me was impressive. Anita’s help and advice has been pivotal and now, just six days after taking the tinctures and making a few changes to my diet, I am experiencing a massive shift in my energy, clarity of mind, digestion and am feeling a positive engagement with life. It is remarkable and I am so delighted to have me back! I’m beyond impressed with the results”.
